Workshops

Workshops are interactive sessions co-ordinated by two recruiters from different sectors. They will give you a chance to practice your skills in a scenario devised by the recruiters. You will then receive feedback and advice on how to improve.

You will need to register for each workshop through your "My Careers Service" account. If you're using this for the first time, please read the My Careers Service Instructions carefully before trying to log in.

Registration opens TWO weeks before a workshop takes place. Booking will close when the workshop is fully booked or, at the latest, 1 working day before the event.

Skills4Work Workshop: Teamwork
16/11/11: 2pm - 5pm
Participating employers: Civil Service Fast Stream; Unilever

Participating in this session will enable you to:

* Understand what teamwork means to graduate employers and why they value it
* Understand how and when employers will look for evidence of team working skills in their selection processes
* Identify how you operate in a team situation and where your strengths and weaknesses lie
* Confidently approach employers' team based assessment exercises

Skills4Work Workshop: Presenting and Influencing
24/11/11: 5.30pm - 8pm
Participating employers: Cushman & Wakefield; Deloitte

Participating in this session will enable you to:

* Recognise the importance of presentation skills in typical graduate roles, and how employers will look for evidence of these in the application process
* Understand how to effectively plan and structure a presentation
* Develop some techniques for giving a presentation and speaking in public
* Give presentations at interview or assessment centre with increased confidence

Skills4Work Workshop: Leadership
28/11/11: 5.30pm - 8pm
Participating employers: Morgan Stanley; SunGard

Participating in this session will enable you to:

* Understand what employers mean by leadership and how they will look for evidence of it in the application process
* Gain awareness of different leadership styles and how they may be applied in different business scenarios
* Understand your current leadership style and potential through taking part in practical exercises
* Approach future leadership challenges with increased confidence

Skills4Work Workshop: Negotiation Skills
29/11/11: 5.30pm - 8pm
Participating employers: Capco UK, Freshfields

Participating in this session will enable you to:

* Understand where negotiation skills are needed in graduate roles and how employers will look for evidence of these in the application process
* Understand different techniques for successful negotiation
* Develop your own negotiating ability through practical exercises
* Approach any negotiation exercises or situations with increased confidence
